This scalable, cost-effective mental health program supports individuals with common mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, or stressful life issues. PM+ fills a gap in behavioral health services by offering early intervention and preventing the need for more acute care.
This version of PM+ adapts Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques for use in communities with few mental health care specialists. The program is designed to help small groups of people improve mental health and psychosocial well-being.
This program includes group sessions for adolescents facing stress, anxiety, and depression, plus sessions for caregivers. Based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy principles, it promotes supportive caregiving and helps adolescents develop effective coping strategies.
This stress management course is designed for large groups of up to 30. Its flexible format makes it an excellent complement to other mental health interventions or as a community intervention within broader community programming.
“This program redefines self-care with practical techniques—nurturing mental well-being one step at a time.”

Introduction
• Participants are introduced to SH+ through community outreach, healthcare providers, nonprofit organizations, and employers.
• They receive information about the purpose of the program and how it can help manage stress and improve well-being.
Materials
• Participants receive the SH+ materials, which include audio recordings and an illustrated booklet. These materials are provided in multiple languages to ensure comprehension and engagement.
Group or Individual Setting
• Participants can choose to join a group setting facilitated by a Helper or use the materials individually. In group settings, they benefit from the shared experiences and support of other participants.
Listening to Audio Sessions
• Participants listen to five audio sessions, each lasting about 90 minutes. The sessions are designed to be engaging and easy to follow, guiding participants through various techniques to manage stress and cope with adversity.
Following Along With the Booklet
• While listening to the audio sessions, participants follow along with the illustrated booklet that provides visual aids, exercises, and summaries of key points, enhancing the learning experience.
Follow-Up and Support
• In some cases, participants may receive follow-up support from Helpers. This support helps reinforce the techniques learned and provides additional assistance if needed.
The SH+ program consists of five audio-guided sessions, with one session per week. Each session lasts approximately 90 minutes. This pacing allows participants to gradually build and integrate new skills into their daily lives.
The SH+ program is for individuals experiencing psychological distress, often due to challenging life circumstances such as transitions, conflict, or other traumatic events. It is not for those having a severe mental illness, severe cognitive and/or neurological impairment, severe substance use disorder, or high risk of suicide. It aims to equip participants with practical skills to manage stress and improve their overall mental well-being through a guided self-help approach.
