FAQ
Redefining mental health solutions for thriving communities and workplaces
What is ArcaMind?
ArcaMind is a new initiative launched by the Miller-Dwan Foundation to stem the mental health crisis and transform the way we provide mental health care. By training community organizations and businesses throughout the United States, ArcaMind supports the development and delivery of practical, science-based mental health solutions for real-world challenges—especially in under-resourced and underserved communities. Training examples include Problem Management Plus (PM+) and Psychological First Aid (PFA). Training opportunities begun in the Twin Ports of Wisconsin and Minnesota are now offered on a national level.
What makes ArcaMind different?
Traditional systems alone can’t meet today’s mental health demands. ArcaMind offers fast-track, scalable, community-rooted solutions—starting with groundbreaking mental health training programs.
ArcaMind breaks barriers by:
· Expanding the mental health workforce through scalable training
· Partnering globally with top researchers and institutions
· Adapting tools to communities instead of the other way around
· Bridging gaps between science and everyday care
· Focusing on equity, access, and cultural responsiveness
Why the focus on capacity building and task-sharing?
Capacity building and Task-sharing are central to ArcaMind’s mission and success. These powerful strategies help businesses and organizations expand their mental health workforce by building a new kind of workforce. Tasks, i.e., mental health care, are redistributed from highly specialized professions to trained non-specialists. The idea is simple, yet powerful. With the proper evidence-based training that ArcaMind offers, others can provide safe, effective care, especially where professionals are few and far between.
What is Problem Management Plus (PM+)?
- ArcaMind’s PM+ training is an evidence-based program that addresses the No. 1 cause of employee turnover: workplace burnout.
- Developed by the World Health Organization, PM+ trains employees to provide non-clinical support in the workplace to help address potential mental health challenges before they become more serious.
- The program empowers an employer’s best asset – your own workforce – by equipping them with coping and stress-management skills that can help fellow workers build resilience.
Why does my organization need this training?
- Workplace burnout is the top reason people leave their jobs – and stress, anxiety and depression are the top causes.
- Employee burnout is enormously expensive, estimated to cost a 1,000-employee enterprise $5
million or more annually. - A critical, nationwide shortage of mental health professionals hampers our ability to navigate mounting challenges – both in the workplace and in our communities.
“Because anxiety, fear, isolation and depression are mental health challenges that know no borders—we’re taking decisive action. Our charge is to lead a transformative change in mental health support by implementing proven training programs that improve access to care on a worldwide level.”
