Our Story
About Us
Evidence-based, scalable, accessible, culturally-informed support when and where people need it.
ArcaMind was created in 2024 to address our country’s growing mental health crisis and the shortage of care providers.
We train lay-people, or non-specialists, in a community-led model, helping with both social connection and the shortage of mental health workers.
Our work focuses on a suite of evidence-based tools developed by the World Health Organization (WHO), that focus on problem solving techniques and stress reduction.
Prevention-based Approach to Mental Health
Scalable mental health tools can reduce the burden on the formal systems by working with those in distress to provide skills to reduce stress and anxiety.

The Miller-Dwan Foundation launched ArcaMind in 2024 to address ourcountry’s growing mental health crisis and the shortage of care providers.

The Miller-Dwan Foundation has a legacy of over 30 years advancing mental health in
Northern Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin, including Amberwing—
a state-of-the-art, partial hospitalization program, providing integrated and compassionate mental health and substance use services for children, adolescents, young adults, and their families.
In 2024, the Foundation recognized that we could no longer do business as usual. Our mental health system simply couldn’t keep up, so ArcaMind was established to focus on workforce expansion. ArcaMind is grounded in a simple but transformative premise: individuals and communities can be equipped with practical, evidence-based skills to manage stress, adversity, and emotional challenges before they escalate into crisis. By working upstream, ArcaMind reduces pressure on an overburdened behavioral health system and enables clinicians to operate at the top of their license.
